Davis hasn’t revealed much about the storylines for the potential sequels, but they sound promising. One, tentatively titled Flies, appears to expand on the body transformation theme from the original 1986 film. Whatever the specifics, these new movies could deliver even more intense body horror than we’ve seen before.
It’s common for sequels to older films to take this approach. After the 1996 hit Twister gained a following, the team behind the new film, Twisters, chose a straightforward title. While the 2024 sequel doesn’t follow the original characters, it puts a new group of storm chasers in similar, dangerous conditions – facing even more intense and frequent storms.
The title A Little League of Their Own might lead viewers to expect a continuation of the story, focusing on the children or grandchildren of the characters we met in the original 1990s movie. This is a common technique in sequels, as seen in films like 2010’s Little Fockers, which continued the Meet the Parents series.
Since its release, A League of Their Own has seen continued interest with follow-up projects. A sitcom based on the film aired shortly after it came out, and a new series with the same name premiered on Prime Video in 2022.
